My area of research will focus on corporate executives in business environments working in global organizations. By taking a look at language, culture, and power in executive coaching engagements, I will look at cross-cultural perspectives, discourse analysis, including such things as pauses, gestures, while looking through a sociolinguistics lens. Using data-centric insights and analysis to inform the theoretical perspectives that I use to investigate this topic I will leverage Sociocultural Theory, Systemic Functional Linguistics, Critical Discourse Analysis, and Social Semiotics. The goal is to see how language plays a role in business leaders’ executive skills development, such as leadership, interpersonal communication, conflict resolution, executive presence, and team building that are known to bolster executives’ path to success in a corporate environment.
